Statistics

TMF compiles statistics about the Swedish wood and furniture industry from its own and other sources.

There are statistics on construction and housing, and figures for production, export, and for the import of amongst other things; wooden houses, furniture, kitchen cabinetry, mouldings, doors, windows, wooden flooring, wooden stairs, and wooden components. In addition, wage and salary development and work-related injury statistics are also compiled. This material may be used freely, if the source is quoted.

Ethics

Member organisations in TMF’s wooden housing group are working to improve this branch of the industry’s reputation. Companies that are accepted as members must agree to follow rules for ethical conduct which have been devised by industry organisations.

In the same manner, sales personnel and representatives of member companies must follow special rules that have been devised for ethical house sales between consumers and house manufacturing companies. These rules and their practical implications are an important element of the training which is given to those interested in becoming authorised wooden house sales agents.

To ensure continued adherence to the rules for ethical conduct, there is an ethics review board. The composition of this board must ensure impartiality. The ethics review board has the mandate to address topics of ethical conduct of member companies as well as their sales personnel and representatives. They do not have the mandate to address topics related to claims and cancellations.

Employer questions

On these pages there is information on common employer topics, employment market, collective agreements and training and development. Our role is to provide member companies with information that addresses the relationship between employers, employees and unions.

Laws and contracts

TMF helps member companies with everything from negotiation and information on laws and contracts to questions about salary levels, holidays, work environments and sick pay entitlement. One of our foremost tasks is to negotiate collective agreements with the trade unions.

We focus our attention at headquarters and our regional offices on individual members. We offer them advice on negotiations and labour legislation, and we have experts available for consultations.

Skill development

One central role for TMF is to support and represent member companies in their roles as employers. This taks includes creating an environment which encourages skill development which is related to the employer’s role. Courses, conferences and consultation in different forms help member companies in the attainment of these skills. Areas which are commonly addressed include: labour legislation with laws and contracts, business leadership and business development, work environment and salary topics. By offering these courses in skill development for managers and employees, we support businesses in the development of their organisations.

Work environment

There are different ways that we help our member companies to develop their work environments. This occurs by providing information, consultation, and training. Our aim is to meet our members’ needs by offering highly specialised knowledge in the field of work environments. Our specialists in this area also observe current topics being discussed by governments, competitors and other organizations for our member companies.
