TMF (the Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture Industry) has complied 13 good examples of how members in the furniture industry work with sustainable design. Some examples are products, others are processes but they can also be a corporate work method or philosophy. TMF has chosen to focus on this topic to help the industry meet the necessary environmental goals and steer it towards a better, more sustainable future.
"In order to design and develop products with lower environmental impact, we must have an overall perspective and responsibility, that includes both nature, people and economy.
In the circular economy, we develop products with a long life span, made for a non-toxic environment, with reduced waste. A circular flow where products, components and materials can be reused, remanufactured and recycled, over and over again. We call it sustainable design."
Robin Ljungar, Sustainability Manager, TMF
